Beaver Brook Reservation
The first reservation established by the Metropolitan Parks Commission (later the MDC) in 1893. Beaver Brook Reservation is 59 acres of open fields, wetlands and woodlands. Berkshire Ski Area East
Berkshire East is nestled in a picturesque mountain valley at 1,840 feet. Skiers from southern New England enjoy this ski area in historical Charlemont as an alternative to the expensive ski resorts in Vermont. Its 40 diverse trails include steep expert slopes for advanced skiers and snowboarders, as well as forgiving beginner trails for novices. Blandford Ski Area

Blue Hills Ski Area
Blue Hills now has a state of the art snowmaking system, improved night lighting system and upgraded lift system. With eight trails on 60 skiable acres, Blue Hills has five lifts, including a double chairlift, a Magic Carpet and Carrousel. Boston Harbor Island's
Enjoy one of Boston's many small islands. This 17-island state park is part of the 34-island Boston Harbor Islands National Park Area. They are a wonderful natural resource, only 45 minutes by ferry from downtown Boston. Seventeen of the islands are managed cooperatively by the Department of Environmental Management (DEM) and the Metropolitan District Commission (MDC). Six of the 17 islands, and Webb State Park, a 36-acre peninsula in Weymouth, are staffed and open for public use daily during the summer and weekends in the spring and fall. Butternut Ski Area offers lifts, trails and base facilities that complement a beautiful, natural setting of evergreen and hardwood forests. Awarded by SKI Magazine for overall area development, environmental planning and excellence of design. Butternut is ideal for beginners and families with children. With 22 trails on 110 skiable acres, it is a great place to learn the basics or perfect your turns. Snowboarders are welcome on all trails; two new snowboard parks have been added as well. Cambridge Side Galleria Mall

Castle Island Park
This historic site is surrounded by a small park with bike trails. Fort Independence, a pentagonal five-bastioned, granite fort built between 1834 and 1851, is the dominating feature of Castle Island. Chicopee Memorial State Park
Chicopee State Park, formerly the Cooley Brook Reservoir and Watershed, has been developed as a high use active recreation area. The total acreage is 575 acres including two 25 acre ponds. Activities include swimming, fishing and picnicking Chicopee State Park is located in south-central Massachusetts. Directions: From east or west take Massachusetts Turnpike (Rte. Otis Ridge is a small family oriented ski area located in the Berkshires in western Massachusetts. It is the perfect place for novice and beginners to learn the basics.
