Battleship Cove
Battleship Cove harbors an impressive collection of historic 20th-century naval ships. The Hiddensee, a Soviet-built missile corvette, can be explored. A Bell Huey helicopter that served in Vietnam also is displayed. The cove is the state's official veterans memorial for World War II and the Korean, Vietnam and Persian Gulf wars as well as a memorial for the victims of September 11. Blithewold Mansion, Gardens and Arboretum
Blithewold Mansion is a 45-room 1908 mansion, styled after a 17th-century English country manor and containing original furnishings, is surrounded by 33 acres of landscaped grounds, gardens and exotic plants. Of interest are a 100-foot giant sequoia, a bamboo grove, a dozen different gardens growing along the shores of the bay and more than 3,000 trees and shrubs. Signs throughout the gardens recount the estate's history. Christmas at Blithewold is celebrated Wednesday through Sunday beginning the Friday after Thanksgiving and lasting through December; phone for hours and rates. Other events are scheduled year-round. Museum of Art—Rhode Island School of Design
The museum houses nearly 84,000 works of art, ranging from ancient Greek and Roman sculpture to French Impressionist paintings—from Chinese stone and terracotta sculpture to contemporary art in every medium, including textiles, ceramics, glass and furniture. Roger Williams Park Zoo
